How safety ends up on HR's desk
Many small and mid-sized companies have no dedicated safety professional. Training is a people task and records are a people task, so it lands with HR. You may not know the standards in detail, and you should not need to in order to keep good records.
Three questions you should be able to answer any day
- Who on our team is trained, and on what?
- Whose training expires soon?
- Can we prove it, with dates, if someone asks?
If you can answer those three quickly, you are ahead of most companies.
Get the status without logging in
Jonah emails the people who need to know. HR and safety contacts can receive expiry alerts before a certificate lapses (by default at 60, 30 and 7 days, and on the day itself) and a monthly PDF that marks the company green, yellow or red on training.
These contacts get email only. They never need a login, a portal or a password, which is one less account for you to manage.
You do not have to write the training
Jonah's courses are ready-made. Confined Space Entry is available today, in English and Spanish, built on OSHA's permit-required confined spaces standard for general industry, 29 CFR 1910.146. More courses are coming.
Your part is putting the right people on the right course. The office ticks each person's courses, the worker trains on their phone, and the certificate issues automatically when they pass.
Adding people without retyping a list
Add people one at a time or upload a spreadsheet. Jonah previews every row with a verdict before it creates anyone. A person added with an email address gets their sign-in by email. Workers sign in with their Employee ID and a password the office can see and reset.
The OSHA 300A reminders
If your company keeps OSHA injury and illness records, the annual 300A summary has to be posted in the workplace from February 1 to April 30 (29 CFR 1904.32). Jonah can email calendar reminders around those dates. They are reminders, not legal advice: OSHA's site explains which recordkeeping rules apply to your company.
What to do this week
- List everyone who works around the hazard the course covers.
- Add them to Jonah, by form or spreadsheet.
- Tick the course for each of them and hand out the sign-ins.
- Add yourself, and your safety contact if you have one, to the email alerts.
Where Jonah stops
Jonah keeps training records. It does not decide which standards apply to your company, and it does not replace advice from a safety professional or your insurer.
